Cardboard, sisal or felt: choosing a scratcher material
Corrugated cardboard is the material most of the range is built on. Sisal covers the scratching posts and cat trees, and a few nests and pads. Felt is a shell over card on many of the cat houses, and the body of some lounges and houses. Freight, replacement and packed volume decide the rest.
Corrugated cardboard leads the range: lounges, tunnels, ovals, L-shapes, folding scratchers, picture-frame boxes and multi-pad sets.
Sisal is wrapped on the scratching posts and cat trees, and made into a few oval nests and flat pads.
Felt is a polyester fibre shell over a corrugated body on many of the cat houses, and the whole body of some felt lounges and houses.
Corrugated cardboard
Cardboard is the material the range is built on. The main cardboard scratchers commonly use BC-flute corrugated paper and corn-based glue, with a usual paper grammage of 120 gsm. The material does not change between the two references below, but the carton does.
The folding scratcher BWP-SCR-003 packs 36 pieces to a carton of 360 × 336 × 340 mm. The sofa scratcher BWP-SCR-002 is supplied flat for assembly. Its assembled size is 678 × 300 × 240 mm; four pieces pack to a carton of 435 × 575 × 330 mm.

Felt over card
Many of the cat houses are built from corrugated paper with a polyester fibre (felt) shell. Some are felt throughout, and some are plain corrugated card. One medium felt-shelled house measures 395 × 285 × 240 mm and has a net weight of 785 g. It packs at 395 × 335 × 100 mm, five pieces to a carton of 410 × 340 × 545 mm.
The packed height is 100 mm against a built height of 240 mm, so the house ships flatter than it looks.
Orange, dark grey and white are named for that house, and other colours are stated on your quotation.
Sisal, rope and fabric
Sisal appears in three places in the range. The scratching posts and cat trees wrap sisal around a solid-wood column. A few oval nests and a flat pad are made of sisal. Some felt lounges and houses carry a sisal seat or roof pad.
Specify whether you want sisal rope or sisal fabric on the selected product. Ask which one is on the reference you are quoting, and ask what the core and the base are made of.
Ask for the packed weight, the packed size and the assembly steps before you compare a post against a card reference.
